Since this morning, the whole Internet has been abuzz with how it’s National Coffee Day. Who made this so? No one knows and no one cares. Coffee clearly deserve its own national day for being delicious/a necessity in life, so let’s all just go with it.
As my office is currently a block away from a Starbucks, I caved and got a drink there this morning. Curse you, convenience! However, it being National Coffee Day and all, I might grab a 2nd cup when I head home to Wicker Park this evening, just for this special occasion. I can already think of a couple of good places to check out:
* Ipsento: I sorta love this place, although I never go as I’d like. I blogged about getting an amazing nutella mocha a few weeks ago and I’m already craving another one. I also spread the word earlier on Twitter about its amazingness. Go forth and get one, thank me later.
* Caffe Streets: I last stopped there during the Renegade Craft Fair and had pretty much the best iced coffee EVER. Cool fall weather be damned; there is definitely still time left to grab iced coffee before you start looking like a crazy person.
* Lovely: It’s pretty much the cutest bake shop ever and they server Intelligentsia, so it doesn’t get any better than that. Get coffee AND a cupcake. Everyone wins in that scenario.
* Filter: My first summer back in Chicago, I spent an obscene amount of time in Filter. One of many excellent places in the ‘hood for some coffee.
* Wormhole: Not only is Wormhole (probably) the coolest-looking cafe in the area, but they have great coffee. Also, ever heard of Scoutmob? It’s another coupon service with an app you can download onto your phone and they’re currently offering a FREE vanilla latte at Wormhole until Oct. 2nd. YOU’RE WELCOME.
